Gun Show
I'm looking to go to a gun show this weekend. It's been a long time since I've gone (used to go with my dad as a kid) and I was wondering if I could expect to save money on some of my firearm purchases. I know that you can get a brand new Ruger 10/22 from Wal-Mart for $219. Will I find it for cheaper? What about the Wetherby 590 12ga. shotgun?
Any help much appreciated. |
Re: Gun Show
Maybe you can find a nice tank....
Seriously, I have good luck at gun shows. Just research prices on what you're interested in online, B4 you go. Sometimes I feel like some dealers get together B4 the show for a little price fixing. But, that could just be me being paranoid.... At gun shows, my credo tends to be...you can't go wrong with Mil surplus.:cheerful: |
Re: Gun Show
Gun shows aren't what they used to be. You will probably see high prices on magazines marked "pre ban".
Don't get your hopes up. The feral gubbermint squeezed so many table top FFL's out of business, there isn't as much competition as there once was. Gun show prices around here are higher than gun shop prices. Except on reloading supplies. Go to gunbroker or gunsamerica.com to get an idea of the prices people are asking for particular firearms. |
Re: Gun Show
lets see
5-8 dollars for parking and 8-12 dollars at the door 13 to 20 dollars to save a few dollars? no thanks. you can get a better deal through online sites mentioned above and your local classifieds. ammo too it is worth looking for online deals. some online merchants of ammo offer either free shipping and if they are out of your state you pay no sales tax and some have 5% - 10% discount and even if they are in your state that covers most states sales tax. i would buy a new rifle close to major holiday / new year through a classified section of your newspaper. to get those holiday presents men sell their least needed guns check http://craigslist.org for your area |
Re: Gun Show
At this point I'm buying redundant firearms (more of what I already have) and I know prices pretty well so I'll see if there are still deals to be had.

Re: Gun Show
Last gun show I went to about two months ago I did buy a Rugger 10/22 for $150.00 with a light plastic stock and with two ten round mags...... no paper work.

Re: Gun Show
Yeah, no paperwork is a must for me...

Re: Gun Show

Also, paying the normal fee of 5 bucks at the door is worth it IMO for a couple hours of entertainment walking around looking over various things. It's not just a place to buy, but a place to take in the sights ;) |
Re: Gun Show
If you get the Mossberg 590-- an awesome shotgun-- try to get the ghost ring sights, as opposed to the bead sight.
if you want to buy one with a bead sight, "jew them down" in price by telling them you need an allowance because you will have to install the ghost ring sights. bon chance! |
Re: Gun Show
No better place to be than outside the gun show buying from the guys who show up with gun in hand and no questions asked.

Re: Gun Show
Did you make it to the "Big One" in Knoxville, this last weekend?

Re: Gun Show
I can buy the older ruger blued 10/22 all day at the shows for around 150 bucks, saw a new blued one today for 179 at wall mart, stainless around 199.

Re: Gun Show
Still, there is the paper trail. I would pay $25 more to shake it.
